Last Saturday marked the end of the ImageRunClub and we certainly went out with a bang! We completed the Dublin Race Series 5 miler in The Phoenix Park and, as always, it was such fun with this gorgeous group if girls. Not everyone made it for various reasons but we were thinking of you all. Some of the girls from my Positive Running group came too; it was so lovely to see both groups together and gel so well. Girl power is alive and well!
The energy on race days is so intense – I’m a nervous wreck most of the time- but I love it and judging by the post run beams, the girls did too!
The sun came out for us which has been a regular feature on Monday evenings at the ImageRunClub – we have been really lucky. The park looked incredible with the run taking us through parts of the park lots of the girls hadn’t seen before. There’s so much to see – deer, squirrel, lakes, hills and lots of cheers from supporters – a great day for running.
As you all know I love to run, I don’t run to win or to achieve personal bests, I run for the pleasure. I run partly because I love how it makes me feel – most of the time – but mostly I love being part of something that helps to change peoples day, some might say lives.
Being part of races like these really opens your eyes to how much people care about themselves – this makes me happy. It also shows how much people care about others, cheering and encouraging each other on, not to mention the people running for charities.
You see so many different types of people out there, all of them training hard, putting time into making their bodies and their minds healthier and ultimately doing something positive for themselves and the people around them. Amazing.
This is what PositiveFitnessProject is all about. Creating a space – whether it’s a run club, a yoga class or a PT session – for people to come and FEEL BETTER about themselves. To feel proud of who they are and how they look. To be inspired to love their bodies more. To appreciate its’ greatness. To get out and do something positive for themselves. I want to help people create a better headspace for themselves. This is infectious, Saturday was proof of that. It’s about spreading those positive vibes!
And we were oozing those vibes on arrival at Slice Dublin 7 for brunch – the idea of the veggie scramble kept us all going– it was delicious and well worth a visit.
This too was reminiscent of our evenings in The Marker Hotel where the delicious and super healthy green juices and protein power balls awaited us after every run – both made us literally swoon every single week.
Brunch was a great laugh where we even made plans for the future – races, run club, food, fitness and bubbles were on the list – they girls have the bug, it’s official!
It wasn’t a coincidence that we came together, every week we said how lucky we were to have met such a positive, energetic, “up for it” group of likeminded girls. None of us are professional runners. None of us want to break records. We just want to run, laugh, inspire and be inspired.
I personally want to thank The Marker Hotel, especially Roisin who welcomed us with open arms and couldn’t do enough for us. She even treated us to a lovely evening in The Spa last week – where every Monday evening should be spent in my view! We were very privileged, thank you. On top of that Roisin was a huge positive influence on the group; she kept us on our toes and was our SUPER PACER. If the truth be known she is Mrs Bolt.
Massive thanks to the very talented Gar at The Marker Hotel for spoiling us each and every week with the best green juices and treats – you are a superstar thank you.
We enjoyed some of the most mouth wateringly delicious treats from Jo at ABSolute Nutrition – her super clean approach to baking is massively exciting. She too is a rock star in the kitchen, thanks Jo!
To Elllie and the girls at Image.ie for giving us all this opportunity – we love you!
This experience has been wonderful. Thanks to ALL the girls – Rincy, Claire, Ciara, Roisin, Michelle, Laura, Gina, Aileen, Astrid, Julie, Jessica, Laura, Ciara, Eimear, Frances and Fiona – it was an absolute pleasure to meet you all and I can’t wait to run with you again.
